Epost ™ re-launched by Canada Post

The CEO of Canada Post, Deepak Chopra, has re-committed to innovation of it’s epost™ platform.  Over the coming weeks you’ll notice print ads in major papers and magazines, billboards and direct mail to inactive users of epost.  This is all an attempt to get greater participation by Canadians in this electronic bill presentment and payment platform.  There is an epost address waiting for everyone in Canada, they only need subscribe.

There are some good features of epost; free seven year storage of documents, one stop for all your bills instead of multiple ever-changing email addresses, not to mention cost savings for this type of mail.  Prime Data is keeping on top of this development and will be working with Canada Post to become a Channel Delivery Partner for electronic mail.  We endeavour to be an industry leader as the opportunities broaden. For our clients in the not-for-profit world we may be able to assist them with sending their tax receipts with epost or cross-promote with a partner by attaching a promotion to a bill or statement.  There is no epost guru yet as it is a rapidly changing.

It seems that Direct Mail is Alive and Kicking though.  Forbes magazine recently wrote about the effectiveness of DM in the digital age, even among the younger demographic.  Direct Mail is still proving to be the most effective way to communicate many targeted messages, take note fundraisers and retailers, to consumers and volumes remain very strong in Canada and the US as volumes drop for the distribution of bills and notices (especially after the unfortunate postal strike last summer).

We’ll keep you posted as epost develops into a more innovative and useful communications tool.  See the Canada Post site for current information.
